About

Ida Wadenbrandt

Ida Wadenbrandt (born 2001) is a Swedish violinist from Vänersborg, known for her warm, expressive and highly personal tone and strong musical presence. Raised in a musical family, she began playing the violin at the age of seven.

She completed her Master of Fine Arts in Classical Music at Ingesund School of Music, where she also earned her Bachelor’s degree under the guidance of Professor Magnus Ericsson.

Ida has appeared as a soloist with ensembles such as the Sweden Symphony Orchestra – where she serves as concertmaster – Borås Symphony Orchestra, Ingesund Symphony Orchestra and Camerata MHI. She has also performed with orchestras including the Russian Philharmonic Orchestra, Orquestra POP Portuguesa and Västerås Sinfonietta.

Her playing is characterized by a dramatic expressive range, a natural sense of phrasing, and a vivid, singing tone. She is drawn to music that emphasizes sound, storytelling and presence, moving fluidly between traditional classical repertoire and collaborative crossover projects.

Ida has performed for the Swedish royal couple, Prince Carl Philip and Princess Sofia, and has appeared on stages such as the Kremlin Palace, Berwaldhallen, Gothenburg Concert Hall, Helsingborg Concert Hall, Moscow International House of Music and Ullevi Stadium.

Alongside her classical work, she is an active collaborator in crossover and popular music projects, working with artists such as Robert Wells, Loreen, Carola, Nils Landgren and Malena Ernman.

During the 2024–2025 season, she served as concertmaster and soloist on Robert Wells’ Rhapsody in Rock New Year’s tour in China.

In 2026, Ida released her debut album ‘Reflections‘, recorded at the Ingesund School of Music as part of her Master’s degree project. The album reflects her artistic vision of creating music that feels alive, intimate and authentic, with minimal editing and a strong emphasis on complete takes and musical continuity. Blending classical repertoire with Nordic traditional melodies, improvisation and contemporary influences, the recording captures her deeply personal approach to sound, storytelling and musical presence.

Ida has received scholarships from the Royal Swedish Academy of Music, the Vänersborg Cultural Scholarship (2021) and the Cathja Mörner Scholarship (2023). She has participated in festivals and masterclasses with musicians such as Malin Broman, Alf Richard Kraggerud, Christian Svarfvar, Peter Herresthal, Stephanie Baer (NYU, New York) and members of the Danish String Quartet.

Described by her professor as an artist with exceptional musical imagination, natural technique and a rare expressive presence on stage, Ida Wadenbrandt continues to develop a distinctive artistic voice that bridges classical tradition, Nordic musical heritage and contemporary musical expression.
